03.10.2008 - Zetra Drive-In Cinema from 3rd October
Winters Olympic Organization “ZOI ’84” decided to open the first drive-in cinema in Sarajevo. The cinema is open on Fridays and Sundays (evening hours) and shows latest film productions. Admission is free of charge for all the visitors on the night of the opening.
03.10.2008 - 9th European Literary Encounters
9th Edition of the European Literary Encounters, hosted by the André Malraux Centre, takes place from 7 – 12 October 2008. The festival has become one of the most significant cultural events in the city which attracts eminent European and international writers, interpreters, photographers, cineastes and other artists who will present their works at several venues: CDA – Sartr (main venue), Gallery of Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šahinpašić and Buybook bookshops and the National-University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

25.09.2008 - Iggy Pop at Zetra
Popular American singer and musician, Iggy Pop performs in Sarajevo on October 1st at the Zetra Olympic Hall. This concert promotes his most recent album – The Weirdness. Iggy Pop was the lead singer of The Stooges (6 albums). Later he made some recordings with James Williamson and then finally went solo (14 albums). This is his first performance in Sarajevo.
25.09.2008 - Mirza Delibašić Memorial Tournament
4th Mirza Delibašić Memorial Tournament, dedicated to the national basketball giant, takes place from 27 – 28 September in Sarajevo. Participating teams are Split, FMP, Pecs and Bosna (host). This event is organized in the memory of our great basketball player who scored many wins (to his team Bosna) and had many great games during his lifetime.
22.09.2008 - Support to Tourism Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Conference on the Support to Tourism Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 on the occasion of the World Tourism Day. The conference aims at identifying challenges and opportunities for the tourism sector and adopting decisions which will set out directions for development and promotion of tourism in accordance to European standards. The conference includes variety of topics concerning tourism development, legal frame and statistics in the tourism sector, preservation and valorisation of the cultural and historical heritage, tourism branding and marketing, and priorities in support to development of tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina identified by the EU.
19.09.2008 - Sarajevo Semi-Marathon Race 2008
Sarajevo semi-marathon race under the motto „Count me In“ takes place on Sunday, September 21. The race starts at 10 am in front the Tom Shopping Mall in Lukavica and ends at the Zetra Olympic Hall (finishing line). The 21-km long race features over 300 participants from 15 countries. The event also includes a walk from Skenderija to Zetra for those who prefer walking.
18.09.2008 - Paper Sings
The Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the exhibition of an eminent contemporary regional artist, Jagoda Buić. The exhibition „Carta Canta/Paper Signs“ remains open to the public untill October 1.
15.09.2008 - Bee-Fest
The 6th International Bee Festival is held from 17 – 21 September 2008 at the Trg oslobođenja – Alija Izetbegović Square, Sarajevo. Festival gathers over 90 local and regional exhibitors. Exhibitors will present high-quality bee products: honey, beeswax, herbs, as well as thematic books.
15.09.2008 - Clean and Beautiful Sarajevo
Sarajevo high-school pupils and NGOs' members are the initiators of a public awareness raising campaign - Youth action: Let's make Sarajevo beautiful“. Phase 1 includes graphitti and other inappropriate signs removal from over 200 buildings in the Marindvor – Barcarsija area. The campaign aims at promoting the concept of human responsibility towards the environment. In addition to that, to support the concept, the City Government will design a new location for grafitti artists to express their creativity.
10.09.2008 - PitchWise 2008 - Women's Art Festival
CURE Foundation hosts Pitch Wise – Women's Art Festival from 11 to 14 September 2008. This year’s festival strives to promote young women artists, the importance of recycling and the 100th anniversary of the birth of a famous French author, Simone de Beauvoir through art exhibitions, workshops, concerts, etc. Festival gathers artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany and Australia and displays works of Austrian, American and Dutch artists.
05.09.2008 - European Day of Jewish Culture 2008
Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Jewish Cultural and Humanitarian Society "La Benevolencija" host the European Day of Jewish Culture 2008 on September 7, 2008. The event was first organized in 1996 in France and soon became an inevitable part of calendar of events in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. In 2000, it also reached other European countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina. Novi hram Gallery (New Jewish Temple) hosts the Alfred Pal’s Art Exhibition accompanied by Sephardic songs performed by Ornela Djukic and Katarina Kikic.
29.08.2008 - Ecology-Herbal Plants – Healthy Food Festival
Ecology – Herbal plants – Healthy Food Festival takes place at the Bjelasnica Mountain on 30 – 31 August 2008. The festival gathers over 22 exhibitors and 12 companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Austria.
28.08.2008 - Olympic Swimming Pool
Opening of the first Olympic swimming pool in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place at Otoka on 27 August 2008. Swimming complex is divided to five levels and in addition to the Olympic–size pool in accordance to FINA specifications (International Swimming Federation), contains a small swimming pool, gym, fitness, wellness, massage room, two snack bar cafes, 558 seats and eight media rooms. Olympic Swimming pool is open to visitors from October.
22.08.2008 - Orbico Family Day
3rd Orbico Family Day, organized by the Novo Sarajevo Municipality in collaboration with the Sarajevo Film Festival, takes place at Vilson’s Promenade (orig. Vilsonovo setaliste) on 23 August 2008. The event features over 50 organizations and individuals who perform educational-entertainment, music and sports shows.
21.08.2008 - Edo Murtic’s Exhibition
Last night’s art exhibition opening at the City Hall featured over 300 paintings, drawings and gouaches of a popular Croatian artist, Edo Murtic. Artist’s posthumous exhibition shows works dating back to the 90’s and was initiated by his wife Goranka under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Canton Sarajevo and the Zagreb City Government. The exhibition took place in the frame of the 14th Sarajevo Film Festival.
14.08.2008 - Fis Fest Sarajevo 2008
The 3rd Fis Fest Sarajevo takes place from 15 – 30 August at Fis Bock, Sarajevo. The event features a humanitarian party, Fiesta Humana as well as 11 music shows performed by popular musicians and a few young local performers.
14.08.2008 - Summer Book Fest
University Press and Sarajevo City Library host the 2nd Summer Book Fest from 18 – 28 August 2008 at the Trg oslobođenja – Trg Alije Izetbegovića, Sarajevo. The program features the 1st Summer Literary Stage and gathers local and regional publishers and libraries.
11.08.2008 - 14th Sarajevo Film Festival
14th Sarajevo Film Festival, held from 15 – 23 August 2008, features 12 programs screening174 films. The Festival will be open with Aida Begic’s film “Snow”. The Festival also hosts the two-time Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey whose film “The Usual Suspects” will close the Festival. Films will be screened at nine different locations. In 2007 the Festival had over 100.000 visitors.
31.07.2008 - 5th Sevdalinka Festival
The 5th Sevdalinka Festival, to be held on July 31, 2008 at 9 pm at the City Hall Main Stage, is the Bascarsija Nights 2008 closing ceremony. Traditional songs – sevdalinka – will be performed by 20 eminent singers.
30.07.2008 - 1st International Sevdah Youth Festival
Bascarsija Nights 2008 Festival introduces the 1st International Sevdah Youth Festival at the Main Stage – City Hall on July 30, 2008 at 9 pm. The event is organized by the “Institut sevdaha” and features the institute’s orchestra, as well as 19 young sevdah performers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Denmark, Slovenia and Croatia.
28.07.2008 - Sarajevo Sightseeing Tour
Centrotrans Eurolines provides City Bus Tour Service as the essential introduction to the cultural sights in Sarajevo. Sightseeing tour is available each day at 12 pm, 2 pm, 6 pm or 8 pm. A 1.5 hour tour starts in front of the Cathedral.
28.07.2008 - Folks Music Festival -ILIDZA 2008
International Folks Music Festival "Ilidza 2008" opens on July 31 at the Ilidza Summer Stage. The opening show, Evening of Legends, serves as the retrospective of the Ilidza Festival since 1964 to 1988. The event features numerous local folk-music legends.

Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the Sarajevo in Art Works Exhibition from 7 – 30 August 2008. The exhibition features 27 local eminent artists. Special guests are craftsmen who contribute to the preservation of traditional crafts in Bascarsija.
25.07.2008 - Visit Bjelasnica
ZOI 84 Organization (Winter Olympics Organization) offers daily transportation service to the Bjelasnica Mountain. The departure/return station is the Zetra Olympic Hall. Bus leaves at 7 am and returns at 4 pm. One round ticket costs 10 KM.
25.07.2008 - Sarajevo Museum
Brusa Bezistan hosts the “Sarajevo Museum Evening – To be remembered” on July 25, at 9 pm.
The event is dedicated to the history of Sarajevo water fountains, pipes, wells, etc and features a rich cultural and entertainment program.
24.07.2008 - Art Exhibition at the Luka mira Centre
International Art Exhibition “Lukomir Colonization” takes place at the Luka mira International Educational Centre, Lukomir, Bjelasnica Mountain on July 26, 2008. Thematic focus is the Lukomir Village, which represents an important part of our cultural and historical heritage. This annual event gathers artist from all over the world whose works focus on certain projects of significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Works will be displayed together with the local crafts and products for 15 days, and will then remain at the Centre in the frame of a permanent exhibition.
21.07.2008 - Honored Citizens of Sarajevo
Award-winnining ceremonies – “City of Sarajevo Medallion” and “Honored Citizen of the City of Sarajevo” takes place on Monday, July 21 at 8 p.m. Awards will be presented at the City Hall by the mayoress.
18.07.2008 - Dino Merlin at Kosevo Stadium
The 3rd concert of Dino Merlin which also announces the three-year long world tour will be held on Sunday, July 19 at the Kosevo Stadium. Audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the amazing stage, light and sound show, whereas the first 300 visitors will have the opportunity to see the concert from the heart-shaped VIP-zone.
18.07.2008 - 9th International Folklore Festival
Bascarsija Nights 2008 hosts the 9th International Folklore Festival “Sarajevo 2008” on 18 June 2008 at the main stage (City Hall). Festival features folklore dance groups from India, Spain, Slovakia, North Cyprus, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Festival ends on July 21, 2008.
04.07.2008 - Jewish Film Festival
The 1st London-Zagreb-Sarajevo Jewish Film Festival featuring 10 film productions (Jewish director/topic) takes place from 4 – 6 July 2008. JFF is aimed at promoting the Jewish culture and life styles and to encourage multicultural dialogue, tolerance and understanding among the audience. It is an opportunity for Sarajevo audience to see innovative program on Jewish themes.
01.07.2008 - Chairlift Tour
The increased number of visitors to Igman and Bjelasnica mountains initiated the ZOI’84 Olympic Organization to put two chairlifts (Babin do and Stinji do) into service during weekends. For those who prefer long walks, walking trails marked with signs lead towards Babin do and Stinji do.
30.06.2008 - Nights of Bascarsija 2008
Sarajevo Art and the French Music Soiree open the Nights of Bascarsija 2008 with world premiere opera, Lyssi, by Eric Breton. This year’s festival features 38 programs which will take place from 1 – 31 July 2008, such as: Sevdalinka Festival (Festival of Traditional Bosnian Song) hosted by the Sevdah Institute of Omer Pobric, Fashion and Sevdah, Sephardic Cuisine Evening, Kid’s Summer, literary evenings, Joan Baez, Goran Karan feat. Sar e Roma, Zabranjeno pusenje Band, i.e., approximately 1.600 performers from over 20 countries (over 600 visitors are from Europe, Asia, America and Australia).

Novo Sarajevo Culture Association hosts the 1st Youth ArtFest 2008 from 26 – 30 June 2008 at several locations across the city. Literature, fine arts and theatre works of young artists who are yet to gain popularity and recognition represents the focus of the event as well as the main topic of a round table discussion within the framework of the event.

Stari Grad Municipality, Sarajevo and the PROI Association host the 6th Race Against Drugs on Saturday, June 21. Over 700 local and regional participants gather at the Atmejdan Square at 10 a.m.
19.06.2008 - Creative Ideas at the Cinema Club
The Cinema Club in Sarajevo hosts the 2nd Fair of Youth Creative Ideas. The event is organized by the Youth Information Agency in the frame of the project “Active Youth” featuring 4000 high school pupils from 12 cities across the country who presented over 70 projects in local fairs during May and June. Awarded projects will be presented at this year’s fair.
17.06.2008 - Podgorica Days in Sarajevo
Podgorica Days in Sarajevo held from 19 – 21 June 2008 feature photo exhibitions, theatre plays, literary evenings, concerts, films and trade meetings. A popular Montenegro singer, Sergej Cetkovic, will perform a free concert on June 29 at the Youth House as a gift to Sarajevo audience.

Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the world famous British musician, James Blunt on June 15, 2008. This international pop singer is a great friend to Bosnia and Herzegovina who has dedicated some lyrics to Sarajevo. His album, All The Lost Souls, takes 1st place in Canada, Britain, Ireland, Italy, Germany and Australia.
11.06.2008 - Summer Tourist Season in Sarajevo
Tourism Association of the Sarajevo Canton, in collaboration with the Stari Grad Municipality and Traditional Crafts Association, hosts the Ceremonial Opening of the Summer Tourist Season 2008. The event takes place at Bascarsija (Old Town) on June 13, 2008. The organizers will present this year’s attractions in Sarajevo by distributing brochures, maps and providing information to all visitors of the event.
11.06.2008 - European Film Week 2008
Sarajevo Otvoreni Centar and the Goethe Institut, in collaboration with the cultural centers and embassies of the European Union member countries (Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Italy, France and Spain), host the European Film Week 2008 from 9 – 14 June 2008. The aim is to promote European cinematography and non-commercial films in Sarajevo, Trebinje, Gorazde, Bijeljina, Livno, Banja Luka, Mostar, Bihac and Tuzla.

The 2nd International Kid’s Fair is held at the Skenderija Centre until June 9, 2008. The Fair features performers from all over the country, kids’ equipment manufacturers and rich entertainment program including short film productions, creativity workshops, play-rooms, plays and mascots.
02.06.2008 - 5th Kid's Festival 2008
Kid’s Festival is one of the most popular independent kids’ events in SEE held during the first week of the summer school break. Each year, this event gathers over 35.000 kids from all over the country.
This year’s festival takes place at the Zetra Olympic Hall from 6 – 10 June 2008. The program features daily workshops from 1 to 4 pm, film projections starting at 4.30 pm (opening with Go West, a Lucky Luke adventure). The event gathers numerous local and international artists and entertainment performers (clowns, fakirs, magicians), Dutch Kids’ Circus and a “Wake Up” Kid’s Manifestation for children with special needs which will take place on June 7, 2008 at “Trg oslobodjenja” Sarajevo (Faculty of Economy, Sarajevo).

Trebevic bobsled run hosts the 2nd International “In-line” skaters Competition - „Red Bull Hot Run 2008“ which starts at noon on May 31, 2008. The competition features 22 participants from France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Building and Reconstruction 2008 – a specialized international fair, will be held from 27 – 30 May 2008 at the Skenderija Centre, Sarajevo. The event features the 1st International Commercial Vehicle, Transportation, Logistics and Related Industry. In the past 12 years the fair hosted over 8.650 exhibitors.
21.05.2008 - Lord of the Dance
The world’s greatest dance show has finally arrived to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo audience has a unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular music and dance event “Lord of the Dance” at the Zetra Olympic Hall on May 22, 2008. This fantastic Irish dance show is led by Michael Flatley, the highest paid dancer in the world who is also enlisted into the Guinness Book of World records for tap dancing speed. The show will also take place in Banja Luka and Tuzla.
16.05.2008 - Cycle Race
Horizont-NGO organizes the IDH Ofanziva Cycle Race on May 24 and 25 on the Igman Mountain. The project is designed to promote mountain biking and mountain tourism, as well as mountain regions in Sarajevo Canton during the summer.
13.05.2008 - Sarajevo – Film City at Berlinale
The Berlinale Talent Campus held in the frame of the Berlin International Film Festival hosted representatives of the Cinematographic Foundation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Film Festival who presented their project – Sarajevo - Film City. The project attracted great number of talented filmmakers from around the world who attend the Campus, as well as many media representatives. The Project aims at providing young talented filmmakers with the opportunity of presenting their knowledge and experience through short films about Sarajevo.
12.05.2008 - TRANSformation Models
The Association of Visual Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the Youth Salon 2008 – TRANSformation Models. The event opens on May 13, 2008 at the Collegium Artisticum Gallery (Skenderija Centre, Sarajevo). The exhibition gathers young local artists who will present their work corresponding to three segments:
- Space;
- Transformation of social symbols and relations into art which defines our desires, acts and responsibilities;
- Visual simulation of life and identity transformation.

Bosnian Cultural Centre hosts the Sarajevo Fashion Week 2008 from 15 – 20 May 2008 – Fashion without Limits. The event gathers world's famous fashion designers and creates an opportunity for young local fashion designers to present their work.
12.05.2008 - 1st GEF - Food and Love Songs
1st Sarajevo Gastro Eco Fest takes place from 16 – 18 May 2008 at Trg oslobodenja - Alija Izetbegovic, Sarajevo. The event displays traditional food and beverage, dance, music, traditional attire and crafts from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event appears under the motto “Food and Love-Songs” and represents an initiative of the public campaign under the title “Beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina”. The festival also hosts the catering competition. 1st Gastro Eco Fest is organized by the Eko NVO – Dio Srca Organization.
12.05.2008 - 11th Theatre Fest
The 11th Theatre Fest - TeatarFest, which gathers theatre groups across the world, takes place from 16 to 24 May 2008 at the Sloga Theatre, Sarajevo. This year’s festival gathers six international theatre groups, who will present their creative and alternative projects, movements, musical and other elements of theatrical expression. The event also features theatre workshops, seminars, round table talks, performances which combine visual-art and theatre elements, as well as movies about theatre.
09.05.2008 - 1st Job Fair 2008 in Sarajevo
1st Job Fair 2008 is organized by the Skenderija Centre and Posao.ba website from 13 – 14 May 2008 at the Mirza Delibasic Hall, Skenderija Centre. The fair hosts over 70 high profile local and international employers and students and other visitors from all regions across the country with organized bus transportations (Tuzla, Banja Luka, Mostar, Brcko). The fair features different workshops, company presentations, seminars, concerts etc.

Zetra Hall hosts the “Career Fair 2008” from 15 – 16 May 2008. Career Fair will host over a 100 local and international employers. Visitors have the opportunity to find a good employment and attend workshops to help them find a job or built a better career free of charge.
09.05.2008 - Sevdah Art House
Ceremonial Opening of Sevdah Art House took place in the frame of the Canton Sarajevo Days. The House is located at Bascarsija (Old Town) and it displays museum-educational and historical artifacts dedicated to traditional love-song greats of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The house holds their personal items and awards, approximately 500 songs, great number of books (bilingual editions) and traditional attire.
06.05.2008 - Sarajevo Oldtimers
The 6th International Oldtimer Rally takes place from 10 – 11 May in Sarajevo. The event, appearing under the motto “Smile for Bosnia and Herzegovina” is organized by the Sarajevo Oldtimer Club. The race starts on May 10 at Oaza Camping Site from Ilidza - Bjelasnica Mountain – Sarajevo. On May 11, participants will drive through town, stopping at Bascarsija and finally arriving at National Theatre, where the Old Timer Exhibition will take place.
06.05.2008 - Exhibition: Sarajevo Crafts Through Time
The Association of the Old Traditional Crafts, in collaboration with the Canton Sarajevo Government, organizes the 4th Sarajevo Crafts Through Time Exhibition. This year’s exhibition displaying various traditional craft items, held in the frame of the Canton Sarajevo Days, will be open on May 10, 2008 at Brusa Bezistan.
06.05.2008 - 47th Sarajevo Poetry Days
47th International Literary Event – Sarajevo Poetry Days takes place from 7 – 14 May 2008. The 7-day event features literary evenings, exhibitions and round-table discussions, as well as a great number of local and regional authors. “Bosnian Tombstone” will be awarded to an eminent poet whose work preserves literary, esthetic and ethical principles and is recognized as valuable.
22.04.2008 - Earth Day
Earth Day is celebrated in many countries each year on 22 April under the aegis of the United Nations. The 38th Earth Day: A Call for Climate focuses on global warming. On this occasion, numerous NGOs will gather at the International Franciscan Centre in Sarajevo and present a manifestation under the title “For the Sake of Earth”.

The 20th International Book and Teaching Aids Fair, held from 23 – 28 April 2008 at the Skenderija Centre, features over 220 participants. This year’s fair under the title “Sarajevo, World’s Book” focuses on the theme “Three-Part Monotheism – From Conflict To Dialogue”. The fair includes numerous promotions and round table conferences taking place in the main part of the exhibition hall the so-called “Bosnian House”.

International Promotional- Investment Conference “Canton Sarajevo 2008” takes place at the Radon Plaza Hotel, Sarajevo from 21 – 23 April 2008. Over 300 participants include representatives of international and local companies and local and regional decision-makers. Each participant will be given the “Canton Sarajevo Investment Guide” which provides comprehensive information to all potential investors about investment requirements and opportunities.
18.04.2008 - Sarajevo Days in Vienna
As the cooperation between Vienna and Sarajevo continues to grow, Sarajevo Days in Vienna are to be hosted from 22 April – 4 May 2008 as a part of the cultural exchange. Apart from rich cultural program, the event features presentation of city’s rich cultural and historical heritage, most popular natural sites, old crafts and Olympic Mountains which will be presented by the representatives of the Tourism Association of Sarajevo Canton.
18.04.2008 - World Heritage Day
World Heritage Day is celebrated to raise public awareness about the richness and diversity of the world’s cultural heritage on April 18 since 1983, when it has been approved at the 22nd UNESCO General Conference. On this occasion, the Commission for the Preservation of National Monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina has created a virtual exhibition of religious sites in our country - www.aneks8komisija.com.ba.
17.04.2008 - Sarajevo Haggadah Publication
On the occasion of the Jewish holiday Pesach (Passover) on 19 April, the National Theatre in Sarajevo hosts a promotion of the first edition of Sarajevo Haggadah, published by Rabic. Unlike the facsimile edition which closely resembles the original, this popular edition of Haggadah is translated into Bosnian and English with illustration reference. The original Haggadah, dating back to the 16th century, is still kept in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

1st International Sarajevo Wine Fest taking place from 8 – 10 April 2008 at the Holiday Inn Hotel gathers over 30 regional wine producers. The Festival also features gastro and hotel and catering industry. Visitors will have an opportunity to try some of the best wines and taste delicious traditional dish.
07.04.2008 - Preserve the Nature for Better Future
Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton initiated a campaign under the title “Preserve the Nature for Better Future”. The one-month awareness-raising campaign aims at reminding the public of the importance of the environment and natural resources protection. Campaign features billboards with natural sites in Sarajevo: Bosna River Spring (Vrelo Bosne), the Roman Bridge area, Bjelasnica Mountain, Bijambara Cave and the Skakavac Waterfall. The Campaign also strives to create opportunities for similar organizations to collaborate contributing to the creation of an eco conscious society and help protect natural heritage of the city.
03.04.2008 - Cesaria Evora
During her first visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cesaria Evora holds a concert on April 6, 2008 at Bosnian Cultural Centre. Nicknamed the “Barefoot Diva”, Cesária Évora is a Cape Verdean folk singer who became an international star at the age of 47. The concert is given in support of the Sarajevo Red Cross Organization.
02.04.2008 - Collegium Artisticum Gallery – Exhibition 2008
Ceremonial Opening of the Collegium Artisticum 2008 Exhibition, traditionally held on April 6, the anniversary of the liberation of Sarajevo (WWII) takes place on April 5, 2008. The exhibition features selected paintings, sculptures, graphic design and fine art works. All works selected must have been completed in the period between two 6th April Exhibitions and have not been exhibited on earlier occasions.
24.03.2008 - Sarajevo Wine Rose
Sarajevo Wine Rose held in the frame of the Wine Fest will be held at the Youth House on March 27, 2008. The event hosts over 30 local wine producers, as well as several cheese and smoked ham manufacturers.
14.03.2008 - BH Telecom Indoors - Sarajevo 2008
Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the “BH Telecom Indoors – Sarajevo 2008” ATP Challenger from 15 – 23 March 2008. Prize money for the tournament is 30.000 euros, whereas the event gathers 64 tennis players from 30 countries. Qualification draw is scheduled for 15th of March, Main Draw for 17th of March, whereas the Finals will be held on 23rd of March 2008. Tournament organizer is the Sporting Sarajevo Tennis Club.

26th International Furniture, Interior Design, Wood and Wood Working Industry Fair is held from 13 – 17 March 2008 at the Skenderija Centre. Gathering over 100 local and regional exhibitors and over 50.000 visitors during 5 days, this fair offers on-sale products, new trends in furniture production and innovative wood products.
07.03.2008 - Sarajevo Trophy 2008
The 1st City Sledge Race will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Veliki park (Grand Park) in Sarajevo. Sarajevo Trophy 2008 is organized by the City of Sarajevo and the Alfa Ice Sports Club in the frame of the “Sarajevo – Healthy City” Project. Event is open to everyone who wishes to enjoy this popular winter activity on a 200-m long track. Sledge rental service is also available.
07.03.2008 - Oliver Dragojevic on Women’s Day
Oliver Dragojevic, one of the most-popular music stars from Croatia will perform at the Skenderija Center on March 8, 2008. This concert will resemble his notable performance at Paris Olympia Hall 2006.
06.03.2008 - Halid Beslic at Zetra
Zetra Olympic Hall hosts one of the greatest folk music stars Halid Beslic on March 7, 2008. Majority of tickets for this spectacular show have already been sold out.
05.03.2008 - BH Telecom Silver Fox Cup
The International Junior Skiing Competition - BH Telecom Sliver Fox Cup - will be held on 8 and 9 March 2008 on the Bjelasnica Mountain. Over 250 U7 – U14 junior competitors will compete in alpine skiing, slalom and giant slalom disciplines. The event program includes the 1st Night Skiing Competition Show and other cultural manifestations such as the cottage industry exhibition, kids’ “Winter Sports” and “Silver Fox” art exhibitions, as well as snow sculptures exhibition.
03.03.2008 - 1st International Eco Film Festival
EKO OKO International Eco Film Festival will be held from 2 – 8 March in the frame of the Sarajevo Winter Festival. Film projections will be shown at the Army Hall (Dom armije). The Festival features the best of 2006 and 2007, i.e. 42 films awarded at the international environmental protection festivals held throughout the world.
28.02.2008 - FIS Cup Bjelasnica 2008
Between 1st and 2nd March 2008, Bjelasnica-Igman Ski Centre and Bjelasnica Ski Club supported by the Trnovo Municipality host the FIS Cup Bjelasnica 2008. This international event features over 70 participants and is expected to attract numerous visitors.
22.02.2008 - FIS Cup Sarajevo 2008
9th FIS Cup Sarajevo 2008 takes place on the Bjelasnica Mountain from 22 – 23 February 2008. Skiing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Zeljeznicar Ski Club are hosts of this event, which will feature over 60 competitors from 14 countries.
20.02.2008 - Stephan Lupino’s Exhibition
Sarajevo Winter Festival hosted a known Croatian photographer, Stephan Lupino. His photographic exhibition was presented at the Collegium Articticum Gallery. The collection presented features black-and-white, as well as nude photos that made Lupino famous. His photographs are published in some of the world’s leading publications and presented during exhibitions throughout the world.
The exhibition in Sarajevo will be open until 25th February 2008.
19.02.2008 - Exhibition of Turkish Artists
Sarajevo Winter Festival hosts two exhibitions: Exhibition of the Contemporary Turkish Photography and the Exhibition of the Contemporary Turkish Ceramics at the Turkish Cultural Centre. Ceramic works from Anatolia, portraying life and styles of the cultures from the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas were presented to the Sarajevan audience. These works of art resemble the bridge between the ancient cultures from that region. the Exhibition features amphorae, as well as sculptures of women in the frame of the “Priam’s Daughter”.
15.02.2008 - Hockey Tournaments
Official hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the World Championship Division III Qualification. In addition to the home team, Greece and Armenia will also compete to be selected for the World Championship Division III in Luxembourg from 31 March to 6 April 2008.
15.02.2008 - Figure Skating at Zetra
Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the Figure Skating Open Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This international event gathers over 120 participants from 6 countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Russia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event is organized by the Skating Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and supported by the “Bosna” Skating Club.
07.02.2008 - Sarajevo Winter
Railway Station Assembly Hall hosts the Opening Ceremony of the 24th International Sarajevo Winter Festival. The Festival’s motto “Barricades without Borders ’68 – (Brave) New World” is designed to inspire artists with dance, costumes and music evoking this revolutionary period. Music for the Opening Ceremony has been composed by an eminent French composer, Eric Breton. Over a hundred artists will attend the Ceremony delivering a message of peace, love and friendships.
06.02.2008 - 1st International Pool Tournament
The 1st International Pool Tournament - “Sarajevo Open 2008″ is organized by Balabushka Pool Club and Hollywood Hotel. Qualifying and main tournaments will take place at the Hollywood Hotel, whereas finals will be held at the Radon Plaza Hotel. Participants include some of the greatest pool players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary.
06.02.2008 - Remembering 14th Winter Olympic Games
“Sarajevo Winter” - Sarajevo International Festival and the City of Sarajevo are the organizers of the 24th Anniversary of Winter Olympic Games. Olympic Flame will be lit on the occasion of the Opening Ceremony at the Asim Ferhatovic Hase Stadium on February 8, 2008. Sarajevo Winter Festival has managed to preserve the Olympic spirit in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 24 years and at the same time established itself on the world’s cultural map.
31.01.2008 - Snowsports on Bjelasnica
Regardless of thin snow cover on the slopes, the Winter Olympic Centre - ZOI’84 is still optimistic about the skiing season. New snowfalls forecast initiated the Centre to organize the Opening Ceremony on the occasion of presenting a new two-seater and a new “Bombardier” snowmobile on Saturday, February 2, 2008. The lift will run on Stinji Do – Crni Vrh route (1200 skiers/hour). Babin Do three-seat lift and the new two-seater are expected to provide better operating conditions.
25.01.2008 - Champions on Ice
“Champions on Ice” – Spectacular event on the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of the 14th Winter Olympic Games will take place at the Zetra Olympic Centre on 7th February 2008. Sarajevo audience will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the best figure skating shows – a two-hour "Love Story" performed by Olympic champions from all over the world.
25.01.2008 - 5th International Managers Skiing Competition
The 5th International Managers Skiing Competition will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Bjelasnica Olympic Mountain. Managers from all over the world will compete in three sport events: golf, tennis and skiing competition. In previous years this event hosted over 350 managers from US, Canada, Japan, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, Holland, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
24.01.2008 - Bjelasnica – Igman Master Plan
Bjelasnica – Igman Master Plan, presented to the public at the Press Conference held on Monday, January 21, 2008, aims at recreating our Olympic mountains into the leading winter sports and leisure resorts in SEE until 2017. Investment activities estimated at 207 million euros will continue until 2025 (with an income of 7.5 million euros up to 2014). Master Plan which covers the area of Babin Do, Veliko Polje and Malo Polje, includes expansion of the current skiing area, renovation of ski-lifts and development of new accommodation facilities.
17.01.2008 - Despic House Reopened
Despic House (annex to the Museum of Sarajevo) is renovated and reopened to the public after being closed for 26 years. The oldest part of the house dates back to the 17th century. The house was built in several phases over three different periods. Finally, two houses were connected by stairs, which make this house very unique. The house belonged to an old wealthy orthodox family, who after deciding to move to Belgium in 1969 gave the house to the city to serve as a museum. As the host of the first theatre plays in Sarajevo, the intimate theatre venue gathered close friends of the Despic family and members of the diplomats of Sarajevo then.
15.01.2008 - ZOI '84 now on www.zoi84.ba
ZOI '84 – Olympic Centre, Sarajevo is now available on www.zoi84.ba. From January 9, 2008, ZOI ’84 website provides information on the 14th Winter Olympic Games which took place in Sarajevo in 1984, road condition, airport, weather, snow and ski slopes overview, prices for accommodation and other services, and ZOI’84 projects. Visitors will also have an opportunity to give suggestions and comments about the service provided on Igman and Bjelasnica mountains, as well as at the Zetra Olympic Centre.
07.01.2008 - Orthodox Cathedral Decorations
One of the largest Orthodox religious monuments in the Balkans, Orthodox Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos has recently been illuminated adding to the evening glow of the city. The project was supported by the City of Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton and the Municipality of the Orthodox Cathedral. This Cathedral represents one of the symbols of the multi-religious image of Sarajevo.
04.01.2008 - Night Skiing for Kids
In addition to the Bjelasnica Mountain, night skiing will be available at the Igman Mountain (Malo Polje) as from Saturday, December 5. Ski tracks near the baby ski lifts will be available for night skiing from 6 to 8 p.m., on daily basis during the school break. Skiing conditions are excellent with a 60 cm snow cover reported and temperatures reaching approximately -9° C.
