28.07.2010 - Morgan Freeman in Sarajevo
Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman, guest of honor at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, arrived to Sarajevo this morning.
'Invictus,' directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Freeman as Nelson Mandela, will be shown at the festival's closing gala at Ljetno kino! Hej (Hej Summer Cinema). Freeman will also meet with young film professionals of Sarajevo and the region (Sarajevo Talent Campus).

Evening of the Sarajevo Museum, part of the Night of Bascarsija Festival 2010, takes place at Svrzina kuca (Svrzo House, Museum) on 26th July at 9 p.m. The theme expressed through poetry and music is focused on Sarajevo’s courtyards and gardens.

The 4th Summer Book Fest takes place from 23 July to 1 August at the Trg oslobodjenja – Alija Izetbegovic Square. The Festival is organized by JU Biblioteke Sarajeva (Library of the City of Sarajevo) and Publishing and Literary Society “University Press”.
19.07.2010 - 16th Sarajevo Film Festival
16th Sarajevo Film Festival takes place from 23 to 31 July 2010 featuring 20 films screened on 9 locations in Sarajevo. The Festival opens with the premiere of Danis Tanovic’s Cirkus Columbia and closes with Clint Eastwood’s Invictus starring Morgan Freemen, who is also one of the guests of this year’s Festival.

The 9th Summer Book Fair under the motto “Great Book to Take on Vacation” takes place from 14 to 22 July 2010 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Trg Alije Izetbegovica Square. The fair is organized by Sejtarija Publishing House and feature books at 20 – 80% off.

International Music Festival BIMF 2010 takes place at the Dom oruzanih snaga from 16 – 18 July 2010. This year's festival hosts Zagrebacki solisti (Solisti di Zagreb). Their performance will be dedicated to The Beatles.
30.06.2010 - Exhibition of Marian Wenzel's Works
Exhibition of Marian Wenzel's Works will be at display at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 30 June to the end of August. Marian Wenzel, American art historian and artist, who died of cancer at the age of 69, was the one of the greatest authorities on the art and artefacts of medieval Bosnia and Herzegovina. By testament, Marian Wenzel left her library, artistic works, photographs and documents to the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
28.06.2010 - Bosnian Kingdom Week
The Bosnian Kingdom Week Festival and the premier screening of the film „Bosnian Kingdom Trail“ takes place on 29th of June at Dom oruzanih snaga BiH (Army Hall). The project „Bosnian Kingdom Trail“ covers 10 municipalities across the country aiming at connecting the medieval fortresses and famous medieval legends and stories into a single tourism product.

25.06.2010 - 3rd Ecology Festival
The 3rd Festival of Ecology, Medicinal Plants, Organic Food and Tourism takes place on June 26th on the Bjelasnica Mountain – Babin Dol. The festival is organized by ZOI ‘ 84 Organization. This year’s festival aims at raising public awarness of the importance of environmental protection and will feature a mountain clean-up day.

The 8th Race Against Drugs 2010 takes place on June 26th. The race starts at At mejdan Park. The race is open to both professional and amateur athletes.
23.06.2010 - Bascarsija Nights 2010
Bascarsija Nights 2010 Festival takes place from 1 to 31 July 2010 at the Main Stage near Vijecnica (Town Hall). This year’s festival will feature over 200 performers from Russia, Croatia, Austria, Slovenia, Moldova, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Albania, Turkey, Egypt, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Vaya Con Dios concert takes place in Sarajevo at the Mirza Delibasic Hall, Skenderija on June 18th, 2010.
15.06.2010 - Eco and Tourist Film Festival
The 3rd International Eco and Tourist Film Festival “ITEF 2010” starts on June 15th, 2010. This three-month festival is a project of Centrotrans Eurolines Company which provides international bus transportation. This year’s festival features 12 films from 10 European countries to be screened on 31 international bus lines. What is expected to be around 300.000 passengers will then vote the best film.

Skenderija Centre hosts the Health Days Fair (Health Days of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) from 8 to 10 June, 2010. The Fair is organized by the Federal Ministry of Health with the aim to promote the improvement of the health-care industry, as well as to present its most recent achievements.

The Ilidza Thermal Centre opens its outdoor swimming pools season. In addition to swimming, the Centre will provide the Aqua Aerobic Program and swimming lessons for kids.
04.06.2010 - Olympic Hall Juan Antonio Samaranch
The Sarajevo’s Olympic Hall “Zetra” has been renamed “Olympic Hall Juan Antonio Samaranch” in honour of one of the most influential presidents of the International Olympic Committee in accordance to the decision passed by the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo. Juan Antonio Samaranch, who died on April 21, 2010 at the age of 89, contributed a lot to the renovation of the Sarajevo’s Olympic facilities destroyed during the 1992 – 1995 war.
04.06.2010 - World Environment Day
On the occasion of the World Environment Day celebrated annually on June 5th, the NGO “Marathon” hosts the 2nd Run to the Hills Race. The race is enlisted as one of the United Nations Environment Programme Events. It features runners from around Europe to the forested paths of the Olympic Mountains.
01.06.2010 - Tea Fest 2010
The 8th International Tea and Medicinal Plants Festival “Tea-fest” takes place from 23 – 27 June at Trg oslobodjenja – Alija Izetbegovic Square. Over 60 exhibitors from regional countries will compete for the traditional award “Bosanski ljekoviti cvijet” (Bosnian Medicinal Flower) as well as the award for the best medicinal plant.

Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the exhibition „Olympic Artists in the Olympic City of Sarajevo“ from 1 to 4 June 2010. The exhibition features artists who had their works shown at the 2000 Summer Olympic Games held in Sydney, Australia.

21.05.2010 - The Manhattan String Quartet
Dom oruzanih snaga BiH (Army Hall) hosts the concert of one of the world’s premier chamber music ensembles, the Manhattan String Quartet on May 21 at 7.30 p.m. The event is organized by the US Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The concert will feature the world premiere of a work by American composer Craig Walsh. In addition to Sarajevo, the concert will take place in Banja Luka and Mostar.
20.05.2010 - Retrospective Exhibition of Vojo Dimitrijevic
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vojo Dimitrijevic’s birth, a retrospective exhibition of his works takes place at the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A month-long exhibition displays over a hundred works of Vojo Dimitrijevic.

17.05.2010 - Days of Sarajevo in Belgrade 2010
Days of Sarajevo in Belgrade 2010 Festival hosted by the Youth Initiative for the Human Rights and the Belgrade's Agency for Collaboration with NGOs and European Harmonization takes place from 19 – 23 May 2010. Program includes jazz and rock concerts, sevdalinka (traditional Bosnian song) concerts, theatre plays, photography exhibitions and film screenings (films awarded at regional and international festivals) as well as round table discussions.
17.05.2010 - Sarajevo Sightseeing Bus
Centrotrans Eurolines provides Sarajevo Sightseeing Bus at 12 and 2 p.m. (depending on weather conditions). This bus introduces some of the most popular cultural and historical sites of Sarajevo. The bus leaves at the Dom armije bus station.
14.05.2010 - Museum Evening on 15 May
On 15 May, Sarajevo Museum hosts the Museum Evening on the occasion of the International Museum Day (celebrated annually on or about18 May). Entrance to all museums annexed to the Sarajevo Museum (Brusa-bezistan, Svrzo House, Despic House, Sarajevo 1879-1918 and the Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina) will be free of charge from 19:00 to 24:00.

The 13th Teatarfest takes place from 21 – 29 May at the Sloga Theatre, Sarajevo. Entrance to all plays is free of charge.
13.05.2010 - Street Dance Challenge Who's No1?
Street Dance Challenge “Who’s No1?“ takes place on Sunday, May 16th at Trg djece Sarajeva Square. The event features MC, break, street style and hip hop dancers, as well as dance groups „Zaplesimo“ and the finalist of the Croatia’s Super Talent Show „UNIT X“.
12.05.2010 - High School Short Film Festival
The High School Short Film Festival takes place on May 15, at Dom mladih (Youth House). This year's theme is „Nedostaje nam smijeha“ (A Lack of Laughter). The festival features 16 representatives from the high schools in the Canton Sarajevo, Dubrovnik High School and Lucijan Vrenjanin High School from Zagreb.
10.05.2010 - European Film Week
EUNIC Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the 2nd European Film Week from 9 to 16 May at Kinoteka BiH, Sarajevo. Screening will take place every day from 7.30 p.m. featuring Spanish, Hungarian, Austrian, Greek, Italian, Swiss and Portuguese films. The event takes place on the occasion of Europe Day celebrated annually on 9 May.
07.05.2010 - 49th Sarajevo Poetry Days
The 49th Sarajevo Poetry Days takes place from 11 – 16 May 2010. The opening ceremony will be held at Depoa Ars Aevi. With over 140 participants from 25 countries, this year's event, in addition to Sarajevo, will be held in Tesanj, Mostar, Brcko, Fojnica, Gorazde, Sanski Most, Prijedor and Konjic.
06.05.2010 - Chess Tournament „Bosna 2010“
The 40th International Chess Tournament “Bosna 2010” hosted by the Bosna Chess Club takes place from 5 – 14 May 2010 at the Youth House in Sarajevo (Dom mladih). The tournament will feature over 150 competitors from 30 countries. This is one of the world’s three major tournaments in the category “Open”.

The 22nd International Book and Teaching Appliances Fair takes place from 21 – 26 April 2010 at the Skenderija Centre. The Sport Association of Sarajevo Canton hosts the 16th International Marathon “Vivicitta 2010”, starting at Veliki Park (BBI Centre) at 10.30 a.m. on April 11th (Sunday). Unione Italiana Sport per Tutti-UISP is the general host of the event which takes place in cities all over the world. Sarajevo Marathon is divided into two categories: competition (12 km) and recreation (4 km).

International Music Festival “Xenophonia 2010” takes place from 8 – 11 April 2010 in Sarajevo. Xenophonia is a part of the Jazz Festival aiming at promotion and development of music production in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Concerts and other events within the festival program will take place at BKC (Bosnian Cultural Centre) and Pozoriste mladih (Youth Theatre).

International Theatre Festival “MESS”, to be held from 04 – 24 April 2010, hosts the project “Modul memorije”. The project includes photo exhibition, film and theatre programme, book promotions and a two-day conference “Umjetnost i sjecanje” (Art and Memories). The event takes place at several venues: Bosnjacki institute (Bosniak Institute), Muzej knjizevnosti i savremene umjetnosti BiH (Museum of Literature and Contemporary Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina), Meeting Point Cinema, Narodno pozoriste (National Theatre), Kursumli medresa (Kursumli Madrasah) and Akademija scenskih umjetnosti (Academy of Performing Arts).

31.03.2010 - Traditional Exhibition at Collegium Artisticum Gallery
Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the traditional exhibition of the Association of Fine and Applied Arts, Association of Painters in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Association of Architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition opens on April 6 on the occasion of the Day of Liberation of Sarajevo and the 35th anniversary of the Gallery. The exhibition displays over 500 art works.
30.03.2010 - Karambolage
OFAJ – French-German Youth Office in collaboration with the French and German embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Goethe Institute and Andre Malraux Centre hosts the intercultural evening “Karambolage” in Sarajevo on March 31st, at 7 p.m. (Bosnia Hotel). Karambolage is a television show with elements of French and German daily life broadcast on the France-German television station Arte. The program was first introduced to the Balkans 10 years ago.

European Student Chamber Orchestra performs at the Dom oruzanih snaga BiH (Army Hall) in Sarajevo. The event takes place on March 30th at 7.30 p.m. The event is a part of a project implemented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
26.03.2010 - Virtual Museum of Sarajevo 1878 – 1918
Virtual Museum “Sarajevo 1878 – 1918” is a new project of the Museum in collaboration with the School of Electro-technical Technology in Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Graphics Group. Virtual tour features a digital display of the Austro-Hungarian Rule in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On the occasion of the Jewish holiday of Passover (Pesach), La Benevolencija Cultural and Educational Association in collaboration with the Rabic Publishing House hosts the exhibition „The Sarajevo Haggadah“. Eli Tauber, journalist and researcher, will open the exhibition on March 25th at 7 p.m. at the Novi hram Gallery.

Private collection of a famous Italian collector and gallery owner, Lucia Pianto, contains works of famous world artists. This sensational exhibition takes place on March 19th, at the Carlama Depot Gallery, Skenderija Centre.

The 28th International Fair of Forestry, Wood Industry, Furniture and Interior Design “INTERIO ‘10” takes place from 18 – 22 March at the Skenderija Centre. 11.03.2010 - Days of Organic Production
Association of the Organic Food Producers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina „Savez Organsko FBiH“ hosts the event „Days of Organic Production Ilidza 2010“ („Dani organske proizvodnje Ilidza 2010“). This three-day event features display and tasting of organic food products and promotion of eco tourism.

08.03.2010 - Darwin Now
National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Zemaljski muzej) hosts the exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Charles Darwin. The exhibition „Darwin Now“ is a program of the British Council celebrating 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth and 150 years since the publication of his work “On the Origin of Species”. The exhibition will remain open until the beginning of April.

Goethe Institut in Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the German Film Week to be held in ten cities across B&H. The event features 6 film projections to be screened from 8 – 13 March in Goethe Institut. Entrance to all screenings is free of charge (subtitles: Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian).
03.03.2010 - Eco Film Festival
The 3rd International Eco Film Festival “Eko Oko“ (theme: What now?), proceeding after the Sarajevo Winter Festival, takes place from 3 – 7 March 2010. The festival features 20 documentary and feature films from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, Egypt, Great Britain, France, USA, Spain, Iran and Switzerland. Majority of the films will compete for gold, silver or bronze flakes.

The Exhibition of the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina „I Kulin, Ban of Bosnia“ takes place at the Cultural & Sports Centre in Ilijas in the frame of the project „Museum in Schools“. The exhibition remains open until 12th of March.
12.02.2010 - Bosnalijek Cup
In the frame of the event “Sarajevo – the City of Tennis”, two ATP tournaments will be held in Sarajevo. The first tournament “Bosnalijek Cup”, with prize money of 15.000 USD and 58 participants, takes place from 14 – 21 February 2010 at the Mirza Delibasic Sports Hall (Skenderija).
12.02.2010 - 7th Managers’ Competition
Bjelasnica Mountain hosts the 7th International Managers’ Competition “Audi Race 2010” on 13th of February. The competition features skiing, tennis and golf categories for professional and amateur company managers. Previous editions of the event, in addition to the locals, had participants from the United States, Canada, Japan, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.

The International Junior Skiing Competition “BH Telecom Silver Fox Cup” (Kup Srebrna lisica) takes place from 12 – 14 February on Bjelasnica Mountain (Disciplines: Super G, Slalom and Giant Slalom).
05.02.2010 - Snowboard Europa Cup
Skiing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ZOI ’84 Organization and Snowboard Club "Free Style" host Snowboard Europa Cup on Bjelasnica Mountain on 6th and 7th February. The competition features two disciplines: Big Air and Slope Style and will have participants from Slovenia, Serbia, Sweden, Republic of South Africa, Macedonia and Croatia.
05.02.2010 - Old Toys
Sarajevo Winter Festival hosts the exhibition “In the World of Toys” featuring 242 display items, i.e. toys originating mostly from the period between the Second World War and the 1980-ties. Some toys date back to prehistoric Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition will be held on 7th of February at the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

02.02.2010 - Together, Fighting for Life
On 6th of February, Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the concert “Zajedno za zivot” (Together, Fighting for Life). The concert features some of the leading pop rock musicians and bands – Dino Merlin Bombaj stampa, Plavi orkestar and Letu stuke. The concert is dedicated to Edo Mulahalilovic, songwriter and a producer who got ill with rare cancer and will serve to collect funds to support to his treatment.

It has been 32 years since the comic opera “Don Pasquale”, in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti, was last presented at the National Theatre in Sarajevo. Now, the opera which is considered to be the best Donizetti’s work, conducted by Dario Vucic, and directed by Ognian Draganoff will be held at the Theatre on 24 November.

The Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the All Inclusive Sarajevo Show featuring works created in the frame of a five-day workshop held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. Sarajevo School of Science and Technology promotes the project „Multimedia 3D Presentation and Publication of the Orthodox Church in Sarajevo“ in the frame of the project of preservation and digitizing of cultural heritage in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Church was built in 1874 and is one of major orthodox sacral monuments in the country. This activity aims at creating HQ multimedia presentations of the interior and exterior of the Church, as well as website, DVD, photographs and 3D model which will also serve of a souvenir prototype.

01.09.2009 - Exhibition dedicated to Kulin ban
The Exhibition „Ja, ban bosanski Kulin“ (I, Vice Roy of Bosnia, called Kulin) takes place at the Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exhibition is dedicated to the 820th anniversary of Kulin ban’s Charter. The Charter is the oldest legal document of the Bosnian State and defines medieval period including Bosnian rulers, and political and economic relations at the time. The exhibition will remain open until the end of September.
14.08.2009 - Sarajevo Open Air
The 1st Paragliding Championship “Sarajevo Open Air” will be held from 15 – 16 August 2009, at Babin Do, Bjelasnica. The event features 150 participants and over a thousand visitors. In addition to the competition program, the event includes tandem paragliding and paragliding lessons for visitors, as well as membership in the paragliding clubs and the Civil Aviation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In case of bad weather the event will be postponed.

The 1st International Bicycle Race “Downtown Sarajevo - Das ist Valter 2009”, hosted by Horizont, will be held on 16 August 2009. This prize winning downhill race will start at Zmajevac (Vratnik, Kovaci) and end at the Town Hall. Participants should note that most of the race road is cobbled.

This summer, Sarajevo will be one of the host countries of the 2009 FIBA Europe Youth Competitions. The U18 European Championship Competition for Men, Division B will be held from 22 July to 2 August 2009. The event will feature 21 national teams who will compete to win promotion to Division A.

17.07.2009 - 12th International Folklore Festival “Sarajevo 2009”
The ceremonial opening of the 12th International Folklore Festival “Sarajevo 2009” will be held at the Main Stage “Town Hall” on Saturday, July 18, at 9 p.m. On this occasion, folklore dance ensembles from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Croatia, Malaysia and Serbia will march through the city (National Theatre – Eternal Flame – Cathedral – Sebilj, Bascarsija Square – Town Hall).

Bicycle race “Giro di Sarajevo 2”, organized by the Giro di Sarajevo Association, takes place on Sunday, July 19, at 5 p.m. Participation is free of charge and open to candidates age 12+. The race will start at the parking lot of the Terme Hotel, Ilidza. The finishing line is at the Ars Aevi Bridge, Vilsonovo setaliste. All participants should arrive at 16:30 at the latest and take their number. Emergency and police service will be available during the event.

On the Ravenna Festival's 20th Anniversary, the Paths of Friendship: Sarajevo to Sarajevo 1997 – 2009 Project, launched by Ravenna Festival in 1997 (at Skenderija Centre) takes place at the Zetra Olympic Hall, Sarajevo, on July 13, 2009. Ahead of the concert, the Italian maestro and one of the greatest classical music conductors - Riccardo Muti will lead the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra and Chorus, accompanied by Daniela Barcellona solo performance, as well as the local choirs “Iskra”, “Mostarske kise”, “Pontanima”, Chamber Choir of the East Sarajevo Music Academy, “Amadeus”, Chamber Choir and Orchestra „Arion“ from Banja Luka, Youth Choir, Choir of the High School of Music from Zenica and the Children Choir from Srebrenica.
30.06.2009 - 14th Bascarsija Nights
The Vienna Concert performed by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra on July 1 at the main stage (Town Hall – Vijecnica) opens the 14th Bascarsija Nights Festival. This year’s event will take place from 1 – 31 July 2009 and will gather over 1300 artists from all over the world. The event features rock concerts, classic music concerts, ethno music and folklore performances, fine-arts and literature events, the 12th International Folklore Festival Sarajevo 2009, the 6th Sevdalinka (Traditional Song) Festival and the 2nd Youth International Traditional Song Festival. Admission to all events is free of charge.
26.06.2009 - Giro Bambino
Giro Bambino – a 12&U amateur bicycle race organized by the Association for the Promotion of Urban Cycling „Giro di Sarajevo“ will be held on Sunday, June 28, at Vilsonovo setaliste. Participation is free of charge and does not require entry applications. All participants will be offered snacks, beverages and sweets, whereas some will be awarded valuable prizes.

The Association of Disabled Veterans of the Stari Grad Municipality in collaboration with the Centar Municipality offers stagecoach rides from Bentbasa to Kozija cuprija (Goat's Bridge). The service is available on workdays from 12 to 8 p.m. and during the weekend from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
23.06.2009 - Archaeological Site Skelani
National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the exhibition „Archaeological Site Skelani, Srebrenica Municipality“. The exhibition is a result of the archaeology research of this region which took place in September and October 2008.
The findings are exhibited at the National Museum: a part of a mosaic, a part of an inscription, Roman coins dating back to the 4th century, fibula and jewellery. Other findings and stages of archaeological research are shown in photos. The exhibition remains open until 9th July.

On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse, Sarajevo hosts the 7th International Race against Drugs 2009. This year’s event which in addition to the race features a walk against drugs gathers over 500 participants. Start and finishing line is At mejdan Square. World Environment Day, commemorated yearly on June 5th was established by the UN General Assembly in 1972. This year’s WED will be held under the theme “Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change”. 21.05.2009 - In Honour of Joseph Haydn
Opera of the National Theatre and Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the Joseph Haydn's Creation on May 22 at the National Theatre. The event is dedicated to the 200 anniversary of death of one of the greatest classic music composers ever. Joseph Haydn composed 104 symphonies and 64 string quartets. His late work was dedicated to creating large musical compositions such as oratorio. The Creation is an oratorio written between 1796 and 1798 and considered by many to be his masterpiece. The last performance of this oratorio in Sarajevo took place at the National Theatre some 30 years ago.

One of the world’s most popular trance DJ’s and record publishers, Dutch born Tijs Michiel Verwest, alias DJ Tiësto performs on 15 May 2009 at the Mirza Delibasic Hall in Skenderija Centre. He received many awards and was the first DJ to play live on stage at an Olympics Games when he performed live at the opening ceremony in Greece in 2004.

06.05.2009 - Europe Days Celebration
The European Commission Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, B&H Directorate for European Integration and the NGO “Marathon” host the 4-km race titled “Run to Europe” on the occasion of Europe Day. The event takes place on May 9, 2009 and the race starts (11 a.m.) and finishes at Trg BiH 1. A short race route passes through Vilsonovo setaliste and is designed to allow participants of all age to run the race (so far, sing-in reports over 200 participants, whereas, the event is expected to attract over 500 participants).

22.04.2009 - Earth Day
Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of the Green Generation Campaign, with the focus of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and ever since has been celebrated in many countries as a day which strives to raise awareness for the Earth's environment. On that occasion, Sarajevo will host several eco activities and workshops. Eco Drop activity will engage a group of students who volunteered to renovate a city park in Sarajevo at Cengic Vila (Park mladenaca – the Newlyweds' Park).

On 23rd April, the National Theatre in Sarajevo hosts the Missa Bosniensis concert performed by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the establishment of the Franciscan Order in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

01.04.2009 - Theatre Square – Susan Sontag
According to the decision of the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo, Theatre Square was renamed in honour of Susan Sontag - “Theatre Square – Susan Sontag”. Susan Sontag was one of the leading intellectuals of the 20th century who lived in Sarajevo for months during the siege and in 1993 directed a production of Waiting for Godot. She advocated a ceasefire in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Seven member states of the International Organization of the Francophonie will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina from 14 – 28 March. The embassies of Canada, Egypt, France, Greece, Romania, Switzerland and Belgium in collaboration with the Andre Malraux Centre will present over 20 cultural events (theatre plays, films, concerts, exhibitions, etc) which will take place in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Tuzla, Trebinje and Ugljevik. 20th March is commemorated as the International Day of the Francophonie.

Interground Sarajevo Festival is a regional punk and hardcore festival held since 2004. The 5th Interground Sarajevo Festival, organized by the Association for Promotion of Urban Music “NO FUN”, takes place at the Access Centre from 13 to 28 March. The 15-day program features local and regional alternative musicians. All concerts start at 8 pm.

Famous German Theatre Company Schaubühne will perform Hamlet at the Zetra Olympic Hall on 21 and 22nd February 2009 at 8 pm.

Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the exhibition „Venecija via MKC“ of the Macedonian Youth Cultural Centre. The exhibition displays 12 Macedonian artists, half a dozen of them already exhibiting at the Venetian Biennale. Most of the works are contemporary art. International Cultural Festival "Magical India", hosted by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, takes place at the Bosnian Cultural centre on 21 February 2009 at 6 pm. 13.02.2009 - Handcrafts from Bjelasnica
The Sarajevo Museum’s 60th Anniversary is celebrated with the official opening of the “Handcrafts from Bjelasnica” Exhibition at the Brusa Bezistan. Authentic items displayed at the exhibition are traditional handmade clothes from the Bjelasnica region. The clothes (gloves, scarves, socks, bags, traditional attire) are ornamented with bright colours and made of wool and flax. The exhibition remains open until 24 February.
04.02.2009 - 6th International Managers Competition on Bjelasnica Mount
The 6th International Managers Competition takes place on Saturday, Feb 14, on the Bjelasnica Mountain at 11 am. The competition is open to amateur skiers, i.e. company managers in three categories: women and men 50&U and men + 50. The competition (in three sections: skiing, golf and tennis) gathered over 400 participants from USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, Italy, England, Austria, Holland, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the previous years. 04.02.2009 - Napalm Death Tonight at Cinemas Club
A popular English heavy metal band, Napalm Death, performs at the Cinemas Club – Sloga, Sarajevo tonight in the frame of their European tour. The band is noted for being the first band to play grindcore. Organizers anticipate great number of visitors.
03.02.2009 - National Museum Guidebook
First guidebook of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina was published in 1888 (year of foundation), then in 1914, 1915..., with two last editions published in 1984 and 1989. Now, after 20 years, a new guidebook has been presented at the yesterday’s Guidebook Promotion Ceremony held at the National Museum. The guidebook is bilingual (English and Bosnian).
30.01.2009 - 2nd Italian Film Festival in Sarajevo
Italian Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Italian Association of Cinematography Clubs host the 2nd Italian Film Festival from 3 to 5 February 2009 at the Unitic Cinema, Sarajevo. Program includes five featured films and two short films of young Italian directors only recently shown at Festivals in Zagreb and Belgrade.

Collegium Artisticum Gallery hosts the new exhibition season from January 10th. The first exhibition “Earth-Book-Maps” features works of over a hundred artists from ten Balkan and European countries. Many argue this exhibition is likely to become the Balkan Biennale of Contemporary Art.

Historical Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts thematic exhibition “Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy 1878 – 1918”. The exhibition remains open until the end of February 2009 and features original photographs, school books and documents from a period of reforms and the arrival of a modern educational system to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

International Basketball Events Association hosts the 4th Sarajevo Youth Basketball Festival from 2 – 5 January 2009 at three locations (KSC Ilidza, Hollywood Hotel and Nafija Sarajlic Primary School). Entry is free of charge. Tournaments feature 48 teams in 5 categories for men and women respectively, i.e. over 1000 participants from Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Swiss, Great Britain, Czech, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This years’ festival is also recognized and recommended by the International Basketball Federation, FIBA.
25.12.2008 - New Year’s Eve in Eternal Fire Square
City of Sarajevo hosts the New Year’s Eve in the Eternal Fire Square under the motto “Sarajevo, you and I”. The program includes kids program “Liloland” from 3 to 5 pm at the Bosnian Cultural Centre and the main program starting at 9 pm features Elvir Laković Laka, Letu Štuke Band, Irina feat Storm, Sarajevo Drum Orchestra and Bosnian Aquarel Band. Fireworks will start off at midnight in three locations.

Traditional New Year’s Concert performed by the Sarajevo Philharmonic takes place on 31 December 2008 at 8.30 pm at the National Theatre in Sarajevo. In addition to famous composers and Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Slovenian, Uroš Lajovic, the event introduces a Philippine soprano Maria Rachelle Gerodias and an Austrian violinist Thomas Christian.

22.12.2008 - Sarajevo Winter 2009
Multimedia Centre “Mak” hosts the exhibition of posters and documents from earlier Sarajevo Winter manifestations. Organic Art Life is a theme of the 25th Sarajevo Winter Event taking place from 7 – 28 February 2009. Honorary guest is Czech Republic, which will assume presidency to the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009.
The event, as in previous years, will include theatre and music performances, art and cultural heritage exhibitions, video, film and other presentations which are primarily focused at affirmation of young local artists.
19.12.2008 - Sculpture Exhibition
The 1st Sculpture Colony in Butmir takes place from 22 – 29 December at the Contemporary Initiatives Centre, Ilidza. The first colony introduces 22 sculptures and the new project “Sculptures from the Bosnian Mountain Peaks”.
18.12.2008 - City Hall Renovation in February
The City Hall, which was built in 1894 during the Austro-Hungarian period was severely damaged by grenades and destroyed in flames on the eve of 25th August 1992. Upon erection, the building served as a parliament facility, and after the Second World War was a home to the National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina. City Hall ranks 10th on the 2008 World Monuments List of 100 Most Endangered Sites. 2.2 million euro has already been invested into the City Hall renovation. The new phase featuring facade renovation and basic interior work starts in February 2009.
17.12.2008 - Ski Legends on Bjelasnica
International sports event „Ski Legends Hit Challenge“ takes place on the Bjelasnica Mountain on 20th of December. The event is a part of the 25th Jubilee of the Winter Olympic Games ’84 and a preparation to apply Sarajevo for an Alpine Skiing World Cup Race host. Program includes skiing competitions introducing some of the most famous world cup and championships winners.
16.12.2008 - Feri Hostel on Igman
Hostel Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the Ceremonial Opening of the Feri Hostel on Igman Mountain, December 18, 2008. The hostel will be open to all mountain lovers, children and youth. It is located at Veliko polje, 20 km from Sarajevo, 1270 meters above sea level. It is built in accordance with the modern international standard and falls into the category of the „New generation youth hostels“. Hostel features sports and recreation amenities: fitness centre, two tennis courts, soccer, basketball and badminton grounds, as well as one playground.

12.12.2008 - Europe Hotel Ceremonial Opening
After a two-year renovation, the opening ceremony of the Europe Hotel takes place on December 12 (on the occasion of the 126th anniversary of the hotel). The hotel was built in the Austro-Hungarian style in 1882 and for over a hundred years it has been the most popular hotel in Sarajevo. Today, it is one of the first “Next Generation Hotels” built in accordance with the international principles adopted in 2006. In addition to a high-quality service and accommodation amenities, the hotel features high standard multimedia equipment.

9th European Literary Encounters taking place from 7 – 12 October 2008 will be ceremonially open with the photo exhibition of Milomir Kovacevic Strasni – “Sarajevo dans le Coeur de Paris” (Sarajevo in the Hearth of Paris Exhibition” at the National Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Iggy Pop was the lead singer of The Stooges (6 albums). Later he made some recordings with James Williamson and then finally went solo (14 albums). This is his first performance in Sarajevo.

Sarajevo semi-marathon race under the motto „Count me In“ takes place on Sunday, September 21. The race starts at 10 am in front the Tom Shopping Mall in Lukavica and ends at the Zetra Olympic Hall (finishing line). The 21-km long race features over 300 participants from 15 countries. The event also includes a walk from Skenderija to Zetra for those who prefer walking.

Sarajevo high-school pupils and NGOs' members are the initiators of a public awareness raising campaign - Youth action: Let's make Sarajevo beautiful“. Phase 1 includes graphitti and other inappropriate signs removal from over 200 buildings in the Marindvor – Barcarsija area. The campaign aims at promoting the concept of human responsibility towards the environment. In addition to that, to support the concept, the City Government will design a new location for grafitti artists to express their creativity.

CURE Foundation hosts Pitch Wise – Women's Art Festival from 11 to 14 September 2008. This year’s festival strives to promote young women artists, the importance of recycling and the 100th anniversary of the birth of a famous French author, Simone de Beauvoir through art exhibitions, workshops, concerts, etc. Festival gathers artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany and Australia and displays works of Austrian, American and Dutch artists.

Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Jewish Cultural and Humanitarian Society "La Benevolencija" host the European Day of Jewish Culture 2008 on September 7, 2008. The event was first organized in 1996 in France and soon became an inevitable part of calendar of events in France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. In 2000, it also reached other European countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina. Opening of the first Olympic swimming pool in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place at Otoka on 27 August 2008. Swimming complex is divided to five levels and in addition to the Olympic–size pool in accordance to FINA specifications (International Swimming Federation), contains a small swimming pool, gym, fitness, wellness, massage room, two snack bar cafes, 558 seats and eight media rooms. Olympic Swimming pool is open to visitors from October.

3rd Orbico Family Day, organized by the Novo Sarajevo Municipality in collaboration with the Sarajevo Film Festival, takes place at Vilson’s Promenade (orig. Vilsonovo setaliste) on 23 August 2008. 21.08.2008 - Edo Murtic’s Exhibition
Last night’s art exhibition opening at the City Hall featured over 300 paintings, drawings and gouaches of a popular Croatian artist, Edo Murtic. Artist’s posthumous exhibition shows works dating back to the 90’s and was initiated by his wife Goranka under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Canton Sarajevo and the Zagreb City Government. The exhibition took place in the frame of the 14th Sarajevo Film Festival.

11.08.2008 - 14th Sarajevo Film Festival
14th Sarajevo Film Festival, held from 15 – 23 August 2008, features 12 programs screening174 films. The Festival will be open with Aida Begic’s film “Snow”. The Festival also hosts the two-time Oscar winner, Kevin Spacey whose film “The Usual Suspects” will close the Festival. Films will be screened at nine different locations. In 2007 the Festival had over 100.000 visitors.
31.07.2008 - 5th Sevdalinka Festival
The 5th Sevdalinka Festival, to be held on July 31, 2008 at 9 pm at the City Hall Main Stage, is the Bascarsija Nights 2008 closing ceremony. Traditional songs – sevdalinka – will be performed by 20 eminent singers.
30.07.2008 - 1st International Sevdah Youth Festival
Bascarsija Nights 2008 Festival introduces the 1st International Sevdah Youth Festival at the Main Stage – City Hall on July 30, 2008 at 9 pm. The event is organized by the “Institut sevdaha” and features the institute’s orchestra, as well as 19 young sevdah performers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Denmark, Slovenia and Croatia.

International Folks Music Festival "Ilidza 2008" opens on July 31 at the Ilidza Summer Stage. The opening show, Evening of Legends, serves as the retrospective of the Ilidza Festival since 1964 to 1988. The event features numerous local folk-music legends.

24.07.2008 - Art Exhibition at the Luka mira Centre
International Art Exhibition “Lukomir Colonization” takes place at the Luka mira International Educational Centre, Lukomir, Bjelasnica Mountain on July 26, 2008. Thematic focus is the Lukomir Village, which represents an important part of our cultural and historical heritage. This annual event gathers artist from all over the world whose works focus on certain projects of significance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Works will be displayed together with the local crafts and products for 15 days, and will then remain at the Centre in the frame of a permanent exhibition.

Award-winnining ceremonies – “City of Sarajevo Medallion” and “Honored Citizen of the City of Sarajevo” takes place on Monday, July 21 at 8 p.m. Awards will be presented at the City Hall by the mayoress.

The 3rd concert of Dino Merlin which also announces the three-year long world tour will be held on Sunday, July 19 at the Kosevo Stadium. Bascarsija Nights 2008 hosts the 9th International Folklore Festival “Sarajevo 2008” on 18 June 2008 at the main stage (City Hall). Festival features folklore dance groups from India, Spain, Slovakia, North Cyprus, Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Festival ends on July 21, 2008.

The 1st London-Zagreb-Sarajevo Jewish Film Festival featuring 10 film productions (Jewish director/topic) takes place from 4 – 6 July 2008. JFF is aimed at promoting the Jewish culture and life styles and to encourage multicultural dialogue, tolerance and understanding among the audience. It is an opportunity for Sarajevo audience to see innovative program on Jewish themes.
01.07.2008 - Chairlift Tour
The increased number of visitors to Igman and Bjelasnica mountains initiated the ZOI’84 Olympic Organization to put two chairlifts (Babin do and Stinji do) into service during weekends. For those who prefer long walks, walking trails marked with signs lead towards Babin do and Stinji do.

Sarajevo Art and the French Music Soiree open the Nights of Bascarsija 2008 with world premiere opera, Lyssi, by Eric Breton. This year’s festival features 38 programs which will take place from 1 – 31 July 2008, such as: Sevdalinka Festival (Festival of Traditional Bosnian Song) hosted by the Sevdah Institute of Omer Pobric, Fashion and Sevdah, Sephardic Cuisine Evening, Kid’s Summer, literary evenings, Joan Baez, Goran Karan feat. Sar e Roma, Zabranjeno pusenje Band, i.e., approximately 1.600 performers from over 20 countries (over 600 visitors are from Europe, Asia, America and Australia).

19.06.2008 - Creative Ideas at the Cinema Club
The Cinema Club in Sarajevo hosts the 2nd Fair of Youth Creative Ideas. The event is organized by the Youth Information Agency in the frame of the project “Active Youth” featuring 4000 high school pupils from 12 cities across the country who presented over 70 projects in local fairs during May and June. Awarded projects will be presented at this year’s fair.

11.06.2008 - Summer Tourist Season in Sarajevo
Tourism Association of the Sarajevo Canton, in collaboration with the Stari Grad Municipality and Traditional Crafts Association, hosts the Ceremonial Opening of the Summer Tourist Season 2008. The event takes place at Bascarsija (Old Town) on June 13, 2008. The organizers will present this year’s attractions in Sarajevo by distributing brochures, maps and providing information to all visitors of the event.

Sarajevo Otvoreni Centar and the Goethe Institut, in collaboration with the cultural centers and embassies of the European Union member countries (Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Italy, France and Spain), host the European Film Week 2008 from 9 – 14 June 2008. The aim is to promote European cinematography and non-commercial films in Sarajevo, Trebinje, Gorazde, Bijeljina, Livno, Banja Luka, Mostar, Bihac and Tuzla.

Kid’s Festival is one of the most popular independent kids’ events in SEE held during the first week of the summer school break. Each year, this event gathers over 35.000 kids from all over the country.
This year’s festival takes place at the Zetra Olympic Hall from 6 – 10 June 2008. The program features daily workshops from 1 to 4 pm, film projections starting at 4.30 pm (opening with Go West, a Lucky Luke adventure). The event gathers numerous local and international artists and entertainment performers (clowns, fakirs, magicians), Dutch Kids’ Circus and a “Wake Up” Kid’s Manifestation for children with special needs which will take place on June 7, 2008 at “Trg oslobodjenja” Sarajevo (Faculty of Economy, Sarajevo).

Building and Reconstruction 2008 – a specialized international fair, will be held from 27 – 30 May 2008 at the Skenderija Centre, Sarajevo. The world’s greatest dance show has finally arrived to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sarajevo audience has a unique opportunity to enjoy the spectacular music and dance event “Lord of the Dance” at the Zetra Olympic Hall on May 22, 2008. Horizont-NGO organizes the IDH Ofanziva Cycle Race on May 24 and 25 on the Igman Mountain. The project is designed to promote mountain biking and mountain tourism, as well as mountain regions in Sarajevo Canton during the summer.
13.05.2008 - Sarajevo – Film City at Berlinale
The Berlinale Talent Campus held in the frame of the Berlin International Film Festival hosted representatives of the Cinematographic Foundation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Sarajevo Film Festival who presented their project – Sarajevo - Film City. The project attracted great number of talented filmmakers from around the world who attend the Campus, as well as many media representatives. The Project aims at providing young talented filmmakers with the opportunity of presenting their knowledge and experience through short films about Sarajevo.

The Association of Visual Artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the Youth Salon 2008 – TRANSformation Models. The event opens on May 13, 2008 at the Collegium Artisticum Gallery (Skenderija Centre, Sarajevo). The exhibition gathers young local artists who will present their work corresponding to three segments:

1st Sarajevo Gastro Eco Fest takes place from 16 – 18 May 2008 at Trg oslobodenja - Alija Izetbegovic, Sarajevo. The event displays traditional food and beverage, dance, music, traditional attire and crafts from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event appears under the motto “Food and Love-Songs” and represents an initiative of the public campaign under the title “Beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina”. The 11th Theatre Fest - TeatarFest, which gathers theatre groups across the world, takes place from 16 to 24 May 2008 at the Sloga Theatre, Sarajevo. This year’s festival gathers six international theatre groups, who will present their creative and alternative projects, movements, musical and other elements of theatrical expression. The event also features theatre workshops, seminars, round table talks, performances which combine visual-art and theatre elements, as well as movies about theatre.

09.05.2008 - Sevdah Art House
Ceremonial Opening of Sevdah Art House took place in the frame of the Canton Sarajevo Days. The House is located at Bascarsija (Old Town) and it displays museum-educational and historical artifacts dedicated to traditional love-song greats of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The house holds their personal items and awards, approximately 500 songs, great number of books (bilingual editions) and traditional attire.
06.05.2008 - Sarajevo Oldtimers
The 6th International Oldtimer Rally takes place from 10 – 11 May in Sarajevo. The event, appearing under the motto “Smile for Bosnia and Herzegovina” is organized by the Sarajevo Oldtimer Club. The race starts on May 10 at Oaza Camping Site from Ilidza - Bjelasnica Mountain – Sarajevo. On May 11, participants will drive through town, stopping at Bascarsija and finally arriving at National Theatre, where the Old Timer Exhibition will take place.

The Association of the Old Traditional Crafts, in collaboration with the Canton Sarajevo Government, organizes the 4th Sarajevo Crafts Through Time Exhibition. 47th International Literary Event – Sarajevo Poetry Days takes place from 7 – 14 May 2008. Earth Day is celebrated in many countries each year on 22 April under the aegis of the United Nations. The 38th Earth Day: A Call for Climate focuses on global warming. On this occasion, numerous NGOs will gather at the International Franciscan Centre in Sarajevo and present a manifestation under the title “For the Sake of Earth”.

The 20th International Book and Teaching Aids Fair, held from 23 – 28 April 2008 at the Skenderija Centre, features over 220 participants. 17.04.2008 - Sarajevo Haggadah Publication
On the occasion of the Jewish holiday Pesach (Passover) on 19 April, the National Theatre in Sarajevo hosts a promotion of the first edition of Sarajevo Haggadah, published by Rabic. Unlike the facsimile edition which closely resembles the original, this popular edition of Haggadah is translated into Bosnian and English with illustration reference. The original Haggadah, dating back to the 16th century, is still kept in the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

07.04.2008 - Preserve the Nature for Better Future
Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection of the Sarajevo Canton initiated a campaign under the title “Preserve the Nature for Better Future”. The one-month awareness-raising campaign aims at reminding the public of the importance of the environment and natural resources protection. Campaign features billboards with natural sites in Sarajevo: Bosna River Spring (Vrelo Bosne), the Roman Bridge area, Bjelasnica Mountain, Bijambara Cave and the Skakavac Waterfall. The Campaign also strives to create opportunities for similar organizations to collaborate contributing to the creation of an eco conscious society and help protect natural heritage of the city.
03.04.2008 - Cesaria Evora
During her first visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cesaria Evora holds a concert on April 6, 2008 at Bosnian Cultural Centre. Nicknamed the “Barefoot Diva”, Cesária Évora is a Cape Verdean folk singer who became an international star at the age of 47. The concert is given in support of the Sarajevo Red Cross Organization.
02.04.2008 - Collegium Artisticum Gallery – Exhibition 2008
Ceremonial Opening of the Collegium Artisticum 2008 Exhibition, traditionally held on April 6, the anniversary of the liberation of Sarajevo (WWII) takes place on April 5, 2008. The exhibition features selected paintings, sculptures, graphic design and fine art works. All works selected must have been completed in the period between two 6th April Exhibitions and have not been exhibited on earlier occasions.

Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the “BH Telecom Indoors – Sarajevo 2008” ATP Challenger from 15 – 23 March 2008. Prize money for the tournament is 30.000 euros, whereas the event gathers 64 tennis players from 30 countries. Qualification draw is scheduled for 15th of March, Main Draw for 17th of March, whereas the Finals will be held on 23rd of March 2008. Tournament organizer is the Sporting Sarajevo Tennis Club.

05.03.2008 - BH Telecom Silver Fox Cup
The International Junior Skiing Competition - BH Telecom Sliver Fox Cup - will be held on 8 and 9 March 2008 on the Bjelasnica Mountain. Over 250 U7 – U14 junior competitors will compete in alpine skiing, slalom and giant slalom disciplines. The event program includes the 1st Night Skiing Competition Show and other cultural manifestations such as the cottage industry exhibition, kids’ “Winter Sports” and “Silver Fox” art exhibitions, as well as snow sculptures exhibition.
03.03.2008 - 1st International Eco Film Festival
EKO OKO International Eco Film Festival will be held from 2 – 8 March in the frame of the Sarajevo Winter Festival. Film projections will be shown at the Army Hall (Dom armije). The Festival features the best of 2006 and 2007, i.e. 42 films awarded at the international environmental protection festivals held throughout the world.

Between 1st and 2nd March 2008, Bjelasnica-Igman Ski Centre and Bjelasnica Ski Club supported by the Trnovo Municipality host the FIS Cup Bjelasnica 2008. This international event features over 70 participants and is expected to attract numerous visitors.

9th FIS Cup Sarajevo 2008 takes place on the Bjelasnica Mountain from 22 – 23 February 2008. Skiing Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Zeljeznicar Ski Club are hosts of this event, which will feature over 60 competitors from 14 countries.
20.02.2008 - Stephan Lupino’s Exhibition
Sarajevo Winter Festival hosted a known Croatian photographer, Stephan Lupino. His photographic exhibition was presented at the Collegium Articticum Gallery. The collection presented features black-and-white, as well as nude photos that made Lupino famous. His photographs are published in some of the world’s leading publications and presented during exhibitions throughout the world.
The exhibition in Sarajevo will be open until 25th February 2008.
19.02.2008 - Exhibition of Turkish Artists
Sarajevo Winter Festival hosts two exhibitions: Exhibition of the Contemporary Turkish Photography and the Exhibition of the Contemporary Turkish Ceramics at the Turkish Cultural Centre. Ceramic works from Anatolia, portraying life and styles of the cultures from the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas were presented to the Sarajevan audience. These works of art resemble the bridge between the ancient cultures from that region. the Exhibition features amphorae, as well as sculptures of women in the frame of the “Priam’s Daughter”.

Official hockey team of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosts the World Championship Division III Qualification. In addition to the home team, Greece and Armenia will also compete to be selected for the World Championship Division III in Luxembourg from 31 March to 6 April 2008.

Zetra Olympic Hall hosts the Figure Skating Open Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This international event gathers over 120 participants from 6 countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Russia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event is organized by the Skating Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and supported by the “Bosna” Skating Club.
07.02.2008 - Sarajevo Winter
Railway Station Assembly Hall hosts the Opening Ceremony of the 24th International Sarajevo Winter Festival. The Festival’s motto “Barricades without Borders ’68 – (Brave) New World” is designed to inspire artists with dance, costumes and music evoking this revolutionary period. Music for the Opening Ceremony has been composed by an eminent French composer, Eric Breton. Over a hundred artists will attend the Ceremony delivering a message of peace, love and friendships.

The 1st International Pool Tournament - “Sarajevo Open 2008″ is organized by Balabushka Pool Club and Hollywood Hotel. Qualifying and main tournaments will take place at the Hollywood Hotel, whereas finals will be held at the Radon Plaza Hotel. Participants include some of the greatest pool players from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Hungary.
06.02.2008 - Remembering 14th Winter Olympic Games
“Sarajevo Winter” - Sarajevo International Festival and the City of Sarajevo are the organizers of the 24th Anniversary of Winter Olympic Games. Olympic Flame will be lit on the occasion of the Opening Ceremony at the Asim Ferhatovic Hase Stadium on February 8, 2008. Sarajevo Winter Festival has managed to preserve the Olympic spirit in Bosnia and Herzegovina for 24 years and at the same time established itself on the world’s cultural map.
31.01.2008 - Snowsports on Bjelasnica
Regardless of thin snow cover on the slopes, the Winter Olympic Centre - ZOI’84 is still optimistic about the skiing season. New snowfalls forecast initiated the Centre to organize the Opening Ceremony on the occasion of presenting a new two-seater and a new “Bombardier” snowmobile on Saturday, February 2, 2008. The lift will run on Stinji Do – Crni Vrh route (1200 skiers/hour). Babin Do three-seat lift and the new two-seater are expected to provide better operating conditions.
25.01.2008 - Champions on Ice
“Champions on Ice” – Spectacular event on the occasion of the 24th Anniversary of the 14th Winter Olympic Games will take place at the Zetra Olympic Centre on 7th February 2008. Sarajevo audience will have the opportunity to enjoy one of the best figure skating shows – a two-hour "Love Story" performed by Olympic champions from all over the world.
25.01.2008 - 5th International Managers Skiing Competition
The 5th International Managers Skiing Competition will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Bjelasnica Olympic Mountain. Managers from all over the world will compete in three sport events: golf, tennis and skiing competition. In previous years this event hosted over 350 managers from US, Canada, Japan, Germany, England, Italy, Austria, Holland, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
24.01.2008 - Bjelasnica – Igman Master Plan
Bjelasnica – Igman Master Plan, presented to the public at the Press Conference held on Monday, January 21, 2008, aims at recreating our Olympic mountains into the leading winter sports and leisure resorts in SEE until 2017. Investment activities estimated at 207 million euros will continue until 2025 (with an income of 7.5 million euros up to 2014). Master Plan which covers the area of Babin Do, Veliko Polje and Malo Polje, includes expansion of the current skiing area, renovation of ski-lifts and development of new accommodation facilities.
17.01.2008 - Despic House Reopened
Despic House (annex to the Museum of Sarajevo) is renovated and reopened to the public after being closed for 26 years. The oldest part of the house dates back to the 17th century. The house was built in several phases over three different periods. Finally, two houses were connected by stairs, which make this house very unique. The house belonged to an old wealthy orthodox family, who after deciding to move to Belgium in 1969 gave the house to the city to serve as a museum. As the host of the first theatre plays in Sarajevo, the intimate theatre venue gathered close friends of the Despic family and members of the diplomats of Sarajevo then.
15.01.2008 - ZOI '84 now on www.zoi84.ba
ZOI '84 – Olympic Centre, Sarajevo is now available on www.zoi84.ba. From January 9, 2008, ZOI ’84 website provides information on the 14th Winter Olympic Games which took place in Sarajevo in 1984, road condition, airport, weather, snow and ski slopes overview, prices for accommodation and other services, and ZOI’84 projects. Visitors will also have an opportunity to give suggestions and comments about the service provided on Igman and Bjelasnica mountains, as well as at the Zetra Olympic Centre.
07.01.2008 - Orthodox Cathedral Decorations
One of the largest Orthodox religious monuments in the Balkans, Orthodox Cathedral of the Most Holy Theotokos has recently been illuminated adding to the evening glow of the city. The project was supported by the City of Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton and the Municipality of the Orthodox Cathedral. This Cathedral represents one of the symbols of the multi-religious image of Sarajevo.
04.01.2008 - Night Skiing for Kids
In addition to the Bjelasnica Mountain, night skiing will be available at the Igman Mountain (Malo Polje) as from Saturday, December 5. Ski tracks near the baby ski lifts will be available for night skiing from 6 to 8 p.m., on daily basis during the school break. Skiing conditions are excellent with a 60 cm snow cover reported and temperatures reaching approximately -9° C.
